New York weather guide
New York is a year-round destination and as such there is never a bad time to go. There are however ideal and less ideal times depending on what you plan to do whilst on your New York holiday.
From May through to October the weather is usually sunny and warm with occasional tropical downpours. The mid-summer months of July and August tend to be very hot and humid and don't make for the most comfortable months for visiting this exciting city. The subway can become quite unbearable when the temperatures are at their hottest so bear that in mind, especially if your New York city break is all about shopping and you're likely to have a lot of bags to carry. The months of May and October are probably the best months as it's not quite so humid and the night time temperatures are less oppressive.
The winter months of December through to early March are usually cold with freezing rain, bitter winds and occasional snowstorms. However, wrap up warm and Christmas in New York is a magical time and who can resist a January visit when the sales are on?
