The Plaza Hotel

From its unrivalled situation where Central Park South meets Fifth Avenue, The Plaza has extended a five star welcome to its guests for more than one hundred years. The hotel has 282 rooms and 102 suites, claiming the largest floor area of any of New York’s luxury hotels.
Although the hotel hangs onto its traditions of old world service and unparalleled luxury, a recent 450 million dollar restoration has brought the world of modern technology to its accommodation, each room having internet access and an iPad.
Its location at the southern end of Central Park provides the ideal base for exploring midtown Manhattan. Central Park itself, of course, is just a few steps away, and offers 843 acres of greenery, lakes, children's playgrounds and a zoo. Just around the corner is the shopper’s heaven of Fifth Avenue, the designer boutique capital of the world.
Most of Manhattan’s "must see" attractions are within easy reach of The Plaza, including The Empire State Building, Times Square and the theatres of Broadway.
The Plaza is unusual in that it has its own built-in shopping mall with a diverse range of goods offered by various concessions within the building. There are books, handbags, fashions, jewellery and much more on sale, all available without leaving the hotel.
The Plaza has a tradition of offering practically everything its guests are likely to want and there are top class hair salons and a spa awaiting your custom. There is also a fitness centre to work off any excess energy that is left over after your shopping and sightseeing excursions.
Dining
The Plaza has a bewildering choice of places to eat and drink, all of them sharing that special ambience that stems from a long tradition of providing the best of dining experiences.
The Oak Room
This full service restaurant was, and still is, the hotel’s main restaurant.
The Oak Bar
The Oak Bar overlooks Central Park and the original oak bar is still in evidence.
The Palm Court
The Palm Court is famous for its afternoon teas although it also serves breakfast and lunch. It is something of an icon as it has featured in many films and novels, probably the most notable being The Great Gatsby.
The Rose Club serves light meals and cocktails each day. On Wednesdays and Thursdays guests can appreciate their food whilst enjoying live jazz performances.
Finally, the Champagne Bar at The Plaza serves fine champagne, caviar and wines in the evening. During the day it specialises in pastries, light meals, and specialty coffees.
