Doubletree Metropolitan
The Doubletree Metropolitan has an enviable location in midtown Manhattan, close to all of the sights for which this district of New York is famous. A short walk from the hotel will take you to Park Avenue, the theaters of Broadway, and Times Square. Slightly further away and the shopping paradise of 5th Avenue awaits. Other iconic New York sights that are nearby include the Empire State Building, Central Park, Radio City and the Rockefeller Center.
The building was designed by the architect Morris Lapidus, and his influence can be seen in the Art Deco styling of both the exterior and the interior of the building. This area of Manhattan has many original Art Deco buildings so the Doubletree Metropolitan blends in well with the general surroundings. Film buffs will be fascinated to know that that the famous “skirt-blow” scene in the film, “Seven Year Itch”, starring Marilyn Monroe, was filmed just outside the hotel.
When, and if, you become tired of seeing the sights you might want to explore the hotel’s many amenities. To work off some of the holiday eating indulgence there is the 24 hour fitness center, free to all guests. The treadmills here feature built-in TV so you can catch up on the news or a favorite program while you work out. For a more relaxing time, catch your breath in the Met Bar, where drinks and snacks are available.
The hotel has made an effort to provide top class facilities for business meetings, with space for groupings of up to 500 people. Its location near to the main business areas make it an ideal choice for that company get- together.
The Met Grill serves breakfast. Lunch and Dinner or you can have meals served in your room if you prefer. There is a fantastic choice of restaurants serving every type of cuisine imaginable in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.
