New Yorker
When you’re visiting New York, or any large city, the closer you can stay to the centre of things the better. The New Yorker Hotel is ideal in this respect as it is situated on 34th Street, right in the heart of Manhattan, in the smallest of New York’s boroughs, but arguably the most interesting for visitors.
The hotel has a long history, opening in 1929, and boasting a list of distinguished guests that reads like an American Who’s Who. A recent renovation restored all of the guest rooms and suites to their former glory, in the Art Deco style. The exterior of the building, like much of the architecture of this part of Manhattan, is also Art Deco. Infact, the New Yorker building is one of the largest examples of this style in the city.
Exploring New York is easy when you stay at the New Yorker. Madison Square Garden is just across the street and, for the shopaholics, Macy’s is just a short stroll, as are the world famous shops of 5th Avenue. Also conveniently close are New York icons such as the Empire State Building, Times Square, and the theatres of Broadway.
A little further afield, but still within walking distance, are Central Park and the Rockefeller Center.
If you don’t feel like venturing out of the hotel you could always visit the fitness centre for some exercise (open 24 hours a day), or relax with a meal and a drink in one of the hotel's restaurants.
Although there are many fine places to eat in close proximity to the New Yorker, the hotel’s choice of dining venues might make you choose to stay in. Cooper’s Tavern offers the best of US cuisine and is the place to go for a quiet dinner for two. If you have your family with you, the Tick Tock Diner, open for snacks and drinks 24 hours a day, will be hard to beat. Modelled on the classic American Diner, this is authentic New York design at its best. If you prefer a little privacy, the Tick Tock Diner offers a 24 hour room service to guests.
There is a choice of accommodation to suit all needs at the refurbished New Yorker, including rooms and suites which have wheelchair access.

The Metro rooms offer all the amenities of the hotel at great value for money. All rooms have been recently updated in the traditional Art Deco style of the original hotel but with all of the convenience of modern day technologies such as Wi-Fi and flatscreen HD televisions as standard.
