Royalton
The Royalton is a luxury boutique hotel located just a few minutes walk from the glamour and glitz of Times Square. Although it’s so close to the “crossroads of the world”, this section of West 44th Street is comparatively quiet. It is known locally as “Club Row” as it is home to several Ivy League University Alumni Clubs such as Harvard, Penn and Yale, and other institutions such as the New York Yacht Club.
The hotel itself has a striking design; the lobby, for example, contrasts the coolness of glass with the hot tones of a huge brass fireplace and couples this with subdued lighting and leather-clad walls to create a somewhat mysterious yet inviting atmosphere. The guest rooms are similarly designed with unusual contrasts of colours and textures to make the occupants feel they are somewhere special.
Many of Manhattan’s most notable attractions are easily reached on foot from the Royalton. A ten minute walk will take you to Central Park and its wealth of activities, and the amazing shops of Fifth Avenue are just a few minutes further. If you are interested in science or just want to find out a bit more about our planet, a visit to the world-renowned American Museum of Natural History is just over a mile away, easily reached by subway. Don’t be put off by the Museum in the title; this is not some dry and dusty place with boring exhibits. The history of the Earth and the universe it inhabits is described using interactive displays and entertaining tours.
Amongst the many amenities that the Royalton offers its guests is a top quality fitness centre, up on the fourth floor. Guests are allowed free access 24 hours a day.
